Going Beyond HIPAA

Tags: , , , , ,

Behind every rule or regulation that you can imagine, you will find an intent. The intent of speed limits is to reduce deaths and injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents. The intent of HIPAA is to safe guard HI (health information) thereby transforming it into PHI (protected health information). Its one thing to implement HIPAA [...]

How To Get Out Of Talking

Tags: , ,

It happens to all of us. Sooner or later, you will be forced to compose audible grunts into meaningful sequences and transmit them over the slower than snail speed of sound. Additionally, you must block until receiving an ACK over the same medium, often requesting even more transformation of thoughts into similar mutually understood grunts.
Do [...]

Site Stupidity – Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Read The News

Tags: , , ,

There are some individuals and organizations that should be prohibited by law from making web sites. Just like free speech can quickly degenerate into disorderly conduct, web sites can quickly degenerate into viciously loud, annoying and angry fruit salads.
Here’s my morning routine – Get coffee, go through RSS reader, get email. I suppose it is [...]

Even though I have the option, I usually [...]

Bracketing Does NOT Mean HDR!

Tags: , , ,

If I see one more photograph of a dirty toilet basin processed via Photomatix with a caption like “Toilet, Bracketed”, I’m going to pop a blood vessel.
Bracketing is a safe guard when using something like the zone system (or your own adaptation of the zone system) with film and some digital cameras to ensure that [...]

Nikon D40 – Still The Best Value For The Money

Tags: , ,

I’ve shot a lot of cameras. From 70’s era Minolta SR series, Kodak “Instamatics”, Brownies, cheap and expensive point and shoot digitals and both ends of the spectrum that Nikon offers. Until I can afford a D-300S or Nikon makes something that I actually want in a mid range price, I’m sticking with the D-40.
Rather [...]
