Site and code overhaul in progress
Its been nearly a year with the same design and format, its time for something new. A few things that used to be here aren’t here anymore. Here’s a list of breakage: Code repo is (mostly) down: I’m moving all of my Mercurial repositories to another system. The bandwidth they use is getting rather high, [...]
OK, no more ads!
I have received dozens of complaints regarding Ad Bard, it has been removed. I’m giving up on ad networks. This blog is a hobby, what good is it if it annoys readers? While, yes, I enjoy talking to myself .. blogging to myself is no fun.
Lazy kids
I’ve heard so many other parents gripe about how difficult it can be to get their child to help out with daily chores. This makes me think back 20 years and remember how much I hated doing that kind of mundane stuff. Getting me to clean anything (including myself) was and still is a feat. [...]

The Planet – a teaching disaster
About 7000 people got a health dose of Murphy’s Law when The Planet’s H1 data center exploded this week. Whatever can go wrong will go wrong. Whatever can’t go wrong will probably go wrong too. For those of you who don’t follow the hosting industry, The Planet had an explosion in their electrical room knock [...]
Layered Technologies hikes prices
Holy cost of doing business Batman! Layered Tech, one of the largest providers of leased & racked commodity servers has raised prices across the board one more time. The latest increase means an additional $20 per server per month (on average) for most customers. I have received not one, not five, not ten, not twenty [...]
Ubuntu Hardy/Xen templates nearly done
I’m now putting the finishing touches on some Ubuntu Hardy templates for Xen. I’ll be contributing both 32/64 bit templates to jailtime early next week. I’ve decided that continuing to make these manually each time Ubuntu releases is a pain, so I’m nearly done scripting the whole thing. I’ll release a package with the build [...]
