Bye bye Sourceforge

Is it *absolutely* necessary to promote the biggest patent fiends in history to your user base if you want to host your project at sourceforge?
If they want to show Microsoft banners , so be it, I can block those out or put up with them. What I don’t like, at all, is GPL project discussion lists sending out ads promoting the very company that’s trying to eliminate free software to users and developers.
Maybe I’m just a cranky dinosaur, but that really seems .. well, mindless.
