Bye bye Sourceforge

Today I received the following in a footer from the OpenSSI development mailing list, hosted at Sourceforge:

------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Microsoft(R) Visual Studio 2008. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/ vse0120000070mrt/direct/01/ _______________________________________________ ssic-linux-devel mailing list ssic-linux-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ ssic-linux-devel

Is it absolutely necessary to promote the biggest patent fiends in history to your user base if you want to host your project at sourceforge?

If they want to show Microsoft banners , so be it, I can block those out or put up with them. What I don’t like, at all, is GPL project discussion lists sending out ads promoting the very company that’s trying to eliminate free software to users and developers.

Maybe I’m just a cranky dinosaur, but that really seems .. well, mindless.
