More sensible caching for WordPress

Posted on | November 4, 2007 | No Comments

Tummblr has released a working combination of many efforts to improve CPU use of WordPress caching. The key difference in this modified plug is rather simple, pages are compressed once, stored and served many times rather than compressed upon each request asking for gzip.

On a busy blog (or farm of blogs), this can significantly reduce your CPU load, less if your already using FastCGI but still noticeable, depending on your traffic.

The mod is not yet perfect, but might help to shut your host up about your resource usage.
